*~*Runner Duck Club*~*

Mine make their own nests in corners, so I have attached a couple of 2ft x 2 ft plywood pieces perpendicular to the walls of the night pen. That gives us two corners, two nesting spots. I also sometimes use a couple of ceramic eggs to suggest where to lay.

I just found #5 egg when I was cleaning the coop. I broke it.. it was way under the wood shavings. Now I know dig first. Anyway I broke it open and try to give it to my dogs. They said no. They like raw chicken eggs. The egg had a line running right down the center of the yolk. I was thinking it was trying to be a dubbel yolk. Not sure about that. Next time I will cook the egg and see if the dogs will try it..

More questions.
Ok with them laying now. What should I do for feed.? What needs to be added or changed to there daily diet.
They eat
15% grower/finisher
Cracked corn
Frozen but thawed out peas and corn
Spring salad mix from Walmart
and all the bugs they can eat
And all the fresh grass they can eat.
They are 31 days old today.

Waiting for my hubby to get home so we both can try scrambled duck eggs together. He doesn't like the thought much because they have been fertilized. That doesn't bother me. My grandmother(RIP) had chicken eggs on a daily basis and they wear fertilized by the biggest and meanest SOB of a rooster God ever made.

He would never be able to tell by taste or looks if the egg is fertilized. You could always mix in some chicken eggs to start then gradually try the duck eggs by themselves.

Did your Grandmother finally eat that rooster? we have had to eat a few of ours that turned out that way.
