*~*Runner Duck Club*~*

Mine started laying at around 6 months. They lay fewer in December, stop more or less completely for Jan and most of Feb, they by March are laying fairly well again. As others have said, you just need to be patient. Finally picked up a few chickens. My wife has fallen in love with Polish chickens, so we now have a Frizzle polish roster and 4 golden laced Polish hens, along with a few assorted others that caught her eye.

Hello peep’s..hope your ready for a new recipe..
Wild lobster mushrooms w/wild Alaskan cod & duck egg’s
3-4 servings. Mushrooms from Oregon, about 1/4 cup.
Cut up 1/4 small sweet onion in a pan w/ olive oil, salt-pepper
Simmer for about 5 minuets. Add mushrooms, peas, cod, handful
of cilantro & cooked asparagus. Simmer for another 5 minuets.
We had dried mushrooms so we soaked them 1st.
We wanted the extra flavor from the water so this dish will have
a bit more water. Pat down the ingredients in the pan & add the
whole duck egg’s. Cover & cook maybe 3-5 minuets for soft boiled.
Then add raw garlic, salt & pepper to taste.
These egg’s are from our duck’s, we rinse the natural bloom off
in tepid water no soap.

I just don't know what to say, Maybe depending on where in the world we live depends on when they begin to lay Like my Muscovies if hatched say spring of this year won't begin to lay till next spring usually between 8-10 months old mating isn't until the next spring either. But where it is warmer year round they lay year round and breed year round. Seems since your in AU not sure how cold you get in winter but I'd think you'd be seeing breeding and egg laying pretty early, My Runners really surprised me and started mating at around 4 months of age and started laying around 4.5 months of age laid like crazy for a straight 18 months then last fall stopped completely and rested all winter into this March then started up again. I guess if your feeding good quality feed and they are healthy patience is going to have to be your mantra. Hopefully you'll start seeing eggs soon.

Do you have a drake?
yes we do
today we collected our first two duck eggs
