*~*Runner Duck Club*~*

The drake is silver bibbed, perhaps with one copy of Pied.

The hen I believe is fawn and white, only she probably only has one copy of Pied which is why she doesn't have so much white.
Wow! Okay! What exactly do you mean by “one copy of pied”?

Pied is an incompletely dominant gene. One copy and they have some white pied spots. Two copies and they have even more white pied area.
Is this why some Fawn and White aren’t very dark where the fawn should be?

Awe, sorry she didn’t make it. She was a pretty baby :love
Thank you! Her dad is my show drake and her mom would probably make a great show duck. Here parents are the best out of my flock. I don’t know if you have heard the thing of “Breed the best with the best and hope for the best”!

Okay, I'll jump in! (Been busy this week - more details to be posted at a later date).

Seems my chocolate and black runners get more "snow" with each molt. I'd read that this can happen. And yes, I'll need to upload some pics soon, which means I'll need to take some!

It's interesting to me how the snow comes in differently for some of the ducks. Zwei was the first to start getting white feathers. At almost two years old, her belly is white, her shoulders are white, and she has smatterings of white on her back and tail. Her head has been solid chocolate brown until a few weeks ago and is now beginning to be flecked with tiny white feathers. She looks like she's wearing a pinafore!

The other chocolates have varying amounts of white on their bellies - it's almost like checkerboards.

Most of the black runners just have a little snow on their shoulders. But Sieben is now salt and pepper everywhere but her tail.

They are all perfectly lovely, of course!

Who else has snow-splashed dark Runners?
I had 3 white runners, but the drake came down with an infection and sadly passed (Launchpad). We purchased a grey/brown runner drake who obviously didnt have a good upbringing because he panicked when i put him in water for the first time. The previous owner confirmed he had access to drinking water and that was it. Anyways over the years Draco has slowly been transforming into a beautiful salt and peper duck. We always joked that he was trying to blend in with his ladies (darkwing and gosalyn). It is nice to know this is a natural process.
