*~*Runner Duck Club*~*

My two buff and white runner ducks, males, who live with their "mom" an older pekin. I've never seen them try to mate with her. Is that normal? She hasn't laid on any regular basis for about a year. My boys are very flighty and loud. I'm getting more this year, other colors!
Aww they are so cute, are you sure they are drakes? females are the loud ones drakes have a low raspy quack.

Yeah, I'm sure. By loud I mean they quack a lot.
Oh okay they talk alot. lol I don't know why your drakes haven't mated with your older female usually with drakes once they hit puberty they could care less who the female is as long as female. How old are they and maybe she is just too large. Being a Pekin.

My boy ducks (born in June) became more seriously interested in the girls about two months after getting their sex feathers. And they still don't try too much unless there is water. I think this has to do with it being winter and still cold. I expect they will get more amorous in spring.

Mi e are pretty amorous right now!! We are having some nicer weather so I think that's why. Duck Hill, if your ducks QUACK a lot they are Probably hens Drakes dont really quack loudly.

I would guess it fell off on its own, but definitely wouldn't want it to dry wrapped around a leg and still attached.

@CyndiD how's she doing now?

She is moving around checking her surroundings out. It still is wraped around her toes. i just looked & she can't open her webbed toes.
I have 3 eggs pipping in w/her, do i open the hatcher & take her out ? She looks 1/2 dry now.

How far along are the other pips? And how big are the pips themselves? And is the cord detached from the belly and just wrapped around the toes?

I figure she will eventually break the cord loose herself, but we don't want it to hinder her movement for very long. But we also dont want to risk the others hatching, so you are really going to have to judge.

You will be able to put a sandal on her foot, so I'm not as concerned about that part yet.
