*~*Runner Duck Club*~*

I think WVduckchick just meant calls need more assisting. Their little bills don't seem as effective for getting out of the eggs.  In this regard, I would think runners would be better than good since they usually have pretty big honkers for their size.  BUT... I know zero about incubating/hatching so off I go... :D
I'm sorry. I didn't mean that to come across as rude as it sounded when I reread it lol

No harm done, I did not think of this in any way as being rude or even slightly... :D
thanks for your concern and for responding you help me tremendously.
The other 3 eggs left, do you think I should just wait longer?

Yea I know that, I just meant between calls and "other" regular size ducks. :gig

Runners are kinda in between size wise, right?

Cyndi, how long since external pip, and how have temps and humidity been throughout the whole incubation?

Thanks for your help ladies...

I opened this one a little and it was Not moving. When I pulled the shell up I could see a thin membrane...
I've never seen a "shrink wrap" but I think that is what happened?
what do you think?
The other 3, I THINK, I heard sound with my stethoscope... I did it real fast and I was shaking, so not sure if I was hearing the egg or me???
I will wait until tomorrow and see what happens??
I dont know what else to do.?
Thanks again

That one was all the way up in the air cell. May have just gotten too big to hatch. So you think its gone?

I don't count time between internal to external, just from external to start of zip.
The dark looking spot on the left egg in the lower pic concerns me a bit. Has it been discolored like that all along, or is that new?

Its really tough to call when to help. I would wait until at least 36 hours from external pip before considering intervening, but again, I've never hatched runners.

@RavynFallen are runners closer to the hatching practices of Calls or mallard derived ducks??

I read that Runners are 28.5 days to hatch and Mallard derived are 28 days.
Anywho, I assisted the last 3 eggs. I could hear internal peeping and opened where they had started pipping.
I can see them moving inside and hear them. I hope they survive. Do you think they will?
here is a pic of what I did

Not going to hurt to leave it till morning, or even later, if you aren't positive its gone.

But when you decide to take it out, it can be educational to open it.

I opened all 5, Awwhhh, there were some beautiful ducks in there. One was from my fawn & white runner, that i really wanted, it was beautiful.
I dont know enough about "why" they didnt make it all the way. they were at different stages of growth. I will research reasons.
thanks for everything.
