How long did they sit before you took the eggs? If it was only a day or two, I think you'll still be okay because it does take a little while for them to completely stop. I have some broodies who try to sit every day, but I take the eggs from them. Then the next day, they sit again. They're still laying though.

Not really interested in eating eggs. Just want the drakes for the pest control abilities and as pets.
I was concerned about have lots of drakes and them getting into fights and killing each other. Can they kill each other?
I'm pretty sure they get along just fine; they won't kill each other.

They will get along ok but will likely pretend to breed each other. Female ducks do that too when there are no males in the group as well.

all animals are capable of fighting to the death or until one can not fight back due to injury. Having ducks will be the number one cause for drakes to fight. but since you do not have any ducks your drakes will not have the scent or presence of a duck to fight over. But, boys will be boys and they may fight due to hormones? i tried to google it, but didnt find too much. there is this BYC thread https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/456922/drake-fight
i hope this helps

I have ducks and drakes and when the ducks are in their own pen and not w/t drakes they still mate w/ea other, FYI
it is a dominance act also. here is a very unusual article on hermaphrodite ducks... curious http://www.backyardduck.com/female-ducks-mating-behavior/
All ducks have different personalities and attitudes...

Mine too. We had to separate our drakes from our ducks due to overmating and they always fight each other and try to mate each other. Recently, they keep giving each other eye infections by beating each other in the eye. It's terrible. I wish there was a way to calm down their hormones in the presence of other ducks.

It would be interesting to hear from someone with a drake only flock to see if they still do this to each other without other ducks around.

hi thanks for your reply two dog farm they sat on them for around 10 days it's a bit of a long story but needless to say the eggs are no more so that's why I'm asking how long before they kick back in to laying

This is MIKO. SHE has taken over the night shift on garden my ducks. She has been working hard ever since Henry got killed. Just thought I would share. She is doing a darn good job. She is worn out.
