Just got my landlord's permission to build a chicken tractor, but I sold all of those before I moved. Anyone have ideas for duck tractors? I was thinking PVC would be ideal for the run's frame as it is lightweight and I could make a bigger run that way. My 6 runners are at my sister's place waiting for me to construct a new home for them. One of the girls just laid her first egg this week. I'm so excited to see those lovely duck eggs!

I still have at least 2 weeks before anyone lays an egg! Luckily they are all earning their keep eating all the bugs in the garden. If they keep on stealing tomatoes my husband is going to lose mind!

I need help. It's been awhile sentmy last post. I got my first eggs today 4 in total. One extra small the other 3 about the size of a chicken eggs. Ok my questions are. What do I do? Keep them in the coop, through them out, ahh I'm excited about this. I know they probably not good. Not sure yet who is the mom. No one is claiming them. I picked up all my girls and turned them over and only one felt like her pelvis might have open a bit. I seen this technique on YouTube. All seem the same but one. Right now I have them all locked up in the coop. Leave them in or let them out? This is new for me and my ducks..

I generally eat my ducks' eggs. Do you want to start hatching? In that case, you are right to wait till they have been laying for a few weeks before incubating. And in your part of the world, waiting till spring may be the best idea unless you have a good sized shelter that can be kept nice and warmish.

would like to eat them and get some to hatch. I have never had duck eggs. Should I take them and put them in the fridge now?

That is what I would do - refrigerate the ones laid over the next few weeks for eating. Meanwhile you could join some of the hatching threads and get some insight before you set the eggs into an incubator for your best chances for a good hatch.

I am not a hatcher, but there are some very helpful people on BYC and the Duck Forum.
