*~*Runner Duck Club*~*

Do you know where they are located? I will def look them up. I want at least 3 more females and would like to find a hatchery in the areas of Western NC. I swore I'd never order again after losing my little ones to shipping stress but finding Runners in my area is near to impossible. And I have a good friend that maybe able to help me too so I am waiting till spring. Hard to do looking at your precious ones.

They are in Iowa and I’m in AZ so they’re pretty centrally located. I got them in two days, they shipped on Monday and I picked them up Wednesday morning. I did the gro gel stuff they suggested. The only thing I didn’t care for is no shipping confirmation from the company and when I inquired, I got notified by the P.O. they were there before I got a response from the hatchery.

I'm so shell shocked with Hatcheries I think I'll wait till my friend hatches she has gorgeous Runners it's just going to be hard for us to get together since she is in GA and I'm in NC but where there's a will there's a way.
I was surprised as well. My husband said do it though, so I went ahead.

Out of our three ducks (+ three drakes) we have one who just talks ALL the time. She also gives it 'threatening open beak and head down' at you when they come out in the morning.

If you pick her up, she just quacks constantly until you put her down. If picked up, the other two are quiet, but not this duck - she ALWAYS has something to say.

I have the window open at the moment and I can hear her telling the rest of the ducks about *something*, although there's no one outside, so it's not a problem she's talking about, she's just muttering about *things*.

She's also started SHOUTING about things occasionally through the day - call duck style - QUAAACK QUAAACK QUAAaaaack!

Any thoughts, or guidance on this behaviour would be of interest. To my mind she is behaving like the flock's boss-duck and announcing their location in case there are other flocks about.... but I could be completely wrong.

I know if she was in the flock my mother used to keep she would have been described as a baggage and told she was so on a regular basis

My Runners an Buffs are loud right now. I can’t really say why other than maybe days getting a bit longer which may mean something to them. I hear my little f/w up on the hill quacking up a storm I go out to check an she’s just standing up there belting them out while everyone else is laying down. They sure are funny!

:barnie:hitHELP! Paranoid duck mom here lol. I have a 6 month old Indian runner duck. She has always been very talkative and on Jan. 3rd she laid her first egg. Then she got even louder we'd hear her sweet little quacks all day long. I noticed yesterday she was being very quiet, all day. Today again she is still very quiet just an occasionally chatter but nowhere near her usual level. I know when they first lay eggs their hormones are in a twitter and they are louder. So I dont know if she finally just settled down and I got so used to the noise that it seems quiet now. I did recently switch their food (1/16) to Mezuri water fowl feed. They don't like it at all so Im going to go get their usual feed today. She does seem normal other wise interested in treats and curious as usual. If you have any ideas ,or its just me being a nervous mom, lol Id love to hear. Thank you
