Runner duck coughing up wet food?

So I got 3 more ducklings today, 2 Cayugas and a Blue Runner, and upon arrival, the runner girl immediately started attacking the food and water without stopping, and then she started coughing/choking. When she shook her head, a mixture of soggy food and water sprayed out of her mouth. So I held the runner on my lap and massaged her chest (which seemed to help for a moment), and then I removed the water from their brooder for a little bit. Could it have been possible that either she overate, or she was waterlogged? I'm not sure, but I really want to assist her in this issue. Thanks for any input!

You have to be very careful when babies first arrive they can go over board on the eating and drinking and that is what happened to your little Runner. I hope she is better now, but never leave food down with out water or they can get really chocked up. How is she doing now?

She's actually doing much better now, but thank you so much for the information! It seemed to help when I withheld her from water for a little bit of time, believe it or not. This is in fact not my first brood of ducklings, but it is the first time this has ever happened. Our former ducks who are now grown up would drink up every drop of water I would put down (sometimes it took refilling 6 times a day until I cut them off) without a problem.

She was just being a little piggy. Be sure to post some pics we love seeing ducklings. Glad to hear she is doing much better.
