Runner with a prolapsed penis

I mean bathtub with bedding or a towel laid down for a couple days to see how he does. Hattiegun pretty much filled in my blanks and things i dont know lol. Tried my best and i know there are others that know alot more than me.

Only the neosprin and vasoline, I should note that I did look up and see pics of others and mine definately was not a severe case , and never got worse (except a time he got nipped) but I slathered on the ole vasoline... he also had what seemed like diarrhea the WHOLE time is was out....

I think the suggestion about the bath tub was as a temporary home. No water in the tub other than drinking/head dunking water. Put an old towel down so he has some grip.

With the sugar, don't dilute it with water. Just get ordinary white sugar and pour it onto his penis and vent. Reapply a couple of times a day. It's a long shot though. I think the main thing is to keep it free of infection and away from other birds for now.

I'd say you are looking at having to let it dry out and then cutting the end off. This link has some useful experiences in it I think: http://farmingfriends.com/forums/topic.php?id=822

A difficult situation - I feel for you!!

I had kept him seperate for the first couple days til I asked and found out some info, then I just kept an extra close eye on him -He was my alpha drake and when this happened , he gladly let my other drake take over . lol I only had 4 other ducks at the time.. he did just fine. Hope it doesnt happen again but Ive heard it can . arrgghhh

Mine have access to water 24/7-- I made sure ALL of their water was changed everyday and kept his enviroment as clean as possibe..

What causes the problem? too many hens with the drake. No doubt, you thought that the hen/drake ratio was the same as chickens? Well, it's not. Breeding ratios should be one-on-one, or one-on-two, no more. The problem isn't easily cured....

Hattiegun is giving you good advice. Try to make sure he is kept clean to avoid infection and keep him away from the hens for a while.
Hen to drake ratio CAN be the cause of prolapse, but there are other causes(not sure how to phrase it so it's forum friendly, sorry).

Prolapse CAN be an ongoing problem, but it can also be a one and done issue.
If you have some electrolytes that you can add to his water, it surely wouldn't hurt him.
Send a message to Duckluck(her BYC name) and ask her about it-she's really good at helping folks out with ducky issues.
Good luck to you and your duck!
