Bad first hatch, need info. 14 were scheduled to hatch yesterday. 3-4 had pipped Sunday, with 12 rocking like Mexican Jumping Beans. I have candled them several times and knew that 2 did not show veins (12 were moving and growing strong) but I kept all of them in the bator, just in case they were taking their time. We had 4 hatch by bedtime and 2 more by morning, but the poor dears were roughing up the others in the process. I candled the remainder this morning and no sign of movement. I have had some trouble controlling the temp, as the location the bator is in can fluxuate temperature often, but I have kept a close eye on it.
They are all Delawares and I have been told they are vicious, not Bulls in a China shop:lol:. It was like the running of the bulls in there.
So to the questions I go:

IS it possible they were trampled to death before they were able to pip?
DO you need to reduce the temperate in the bator near hatch day and if so how much?
DO I give up on the others?

------Most importantly-------

DID I DO THIS? DID I MESS UP?

Thank you.

These are just suggestions to think about! Were you candling them after they went into the hatcher? The best thing to do is keep the hatcher closed unless you absolutely have to add water to keep the humidity between 60 and 70%. You do not need to decrease the temp at hatch... in fact you are not supposed to! And as far as the unhatched eggs getting "trampled", there is ALOT of debate on that very issue going on around here. But to the best of everyones knowledge, it should not have bothered them. What was the source of the eggs? Shipped eggs have lots of issues from the travel.

The thing to concentrate on is the fact that you have wonderful new babies!! YEAH!!!!! Please post pics.. we all love to look at them!

And welcome!

While waiting for responces, I have done further research and determined the contributing factor. I had eggs that are 2 weeks away from hatch in with them, since no turner could be used, I opened it several times during hatching and the days before to manually turn the others. I thought it would run as smoothly as it had the last 3 weeks. I hand turned for 2 weeks (nobody died), candled them several times in the last week (nobody died), and killed them in their last days. It is official...I DID DO IT. I will take your advise and wait 2-3 days on faith, but since they were moving just as much as the others and now nothing, I would assume I gave them a cold. You are correct, I am very lucky to have 6 beautiful noisemakers. My girls and I are city raised, so when we bought the eggs, I told them they would be food and not to be named (to protect the girls from eating their favorite pet. The BO and RIR were named at the feedstoreby me personally, Lunch and Dinner, but DH said it was a tad insensative, so DD and Ms. L it became.), but today I find myself getting attached to the runt. (Sorry if that offends anyone, It was with good intentions)
To answer a reply: They were bought online and shipped USPS, but they showed all the signs of good development, based only on the information I have collected spying on the forum the last couple of months.

Here are the lucky winners:
