Running out of ideas on a rhode island red that's not thriving

also here is a picture from late july when she was doing better. you can see the difference in her comb/color and size, as well as her eye color

If it’s winter where you live she’s probably stopped laying just as many chickens do this year.
I’m curious why ACV constantly?? It’s acidic very acidic. I get the principal of using it and the “mother” to promote guy health.
Did you know that people who use Mother vinegar are NOT Supposed to brush their teeth right after using it. It’s that harsh that it will erode tooth enamel. They are supposed to rinse well and wait 2hrs before brushing.
Constant acidic water just doesn’t seem right.
You can use it when you have a problem yes but on going use could be something you could eliminate easily. Give fresh clean water and see if she improves.
Do you know exactly how much she eats??
Crate her and monitor the quantity of food she actually eats. Chickens will go through the motions...just to Not draw attention to themselves. It a survival instinct.

ok, hopefully it's not that because we did the higher 5 day dosage, and her poops are firm now. could it still be in there chronically with firm poops?

we found that when they were foraging a lot it helped keep their poops more consistent and firm, because they would get into all sorts of strange stuff in the yard and the surrounding woods. we let them free range while we are outside too. (not now, but perhaps if it warms up a bit).

we put a tablespoon in their waterer which holds a bit more than a gallon.

do you think we should stop?

It wouldn’t hurt and could be a simple answer.

Our typical feed for them is Dumor 16% Layer mix. We mix in a small amount of grit. They also get mealworm snacks every day, and we give them hanging cabbage too (tetherball style), they go through 2 heads of cabbage per week.

it sounds like i should pickup some of the chick starter and maybe mix that in, and feed it exclusively to Lara

Maybe try feeding her separately? You mentioned that she was low on the totem pole...I had a roo like that and he nearly died, he was so terribly thin and very shy, I couldn’t hand feed him but I put a food dish in his favourite hiding place and after a few weeks he bounced back

I would say that with a treatment, she probably doesn’t have coccidiosis. ACV in the water is a personal choice. I used it some years ago, but stopped, since I just feel it is not necessary. I just feed mine clean water and chicken feed. I used fermented feed several years ago for about 7 months, and stopped.

allright. thanks for all the help so far. I will likely report back later this week, maybe weekend with some progress updates.

so far I take her out of the coop/run in the morning and before her bed to give her some 1 on 1 time for extra feeding including her normal feed, extra mealworms, flax seed powder, and cottage cheese. she's also eating some purple cabbage this week on her own.

still a bit lethargic, i'm hoping i can get her feathers to come in more this week.
