Lilyflight watched him go. She had tried to be gentle, because she knew treating him badly and making him feel unwanted and hated would only push him farther into the Dark Forest's clutches.

Blackpaw sighed. "Please Fangheart," he begged under his breath. It was so quiet no cat could hear. "Let me prove my loyalty in a different way!" Suddenly Fangheart's voice echoed in his head. This is your last chance, If you really want a different way to prove your loyalty, kill the leader. If you fail, you will face the consequences. Blackpaw staggered back. Had he just made it ten times worse? Yes, yes he had. Fangheart would surely kill him if he didn't. Why couldn't he have kept his mouth shut?!
