Lilyflight blinked gratefully at him, then padded over to Blackpaw. "Blackpaw," she said, softly but firmly. "I know we've tried to have this conversation before, but now we're actually going to have it. You need to start trying in your training. You need to respect me, and I'll respect you. That's the mutual agreement between all mentors and apprentices, but you don't seem to understand that. If you don't want to try to learn, then you can take care of the elders until you do."

Blackpaw looked up from his beetle squashing it when he sat up. "The elders?" he asked.
