I do not believe that is a Columbian Wyandotte, I have those and they are basically white when young and a little bit of black starts to show through at the tails and at the and around the head as they get older. Yours have far too much dark coloring. This is the reason why I would guess that you have a half bantam because I get the feeling that while the mother is or maybe a Columbian Wyandotte the fathers are a mystery.

I really liked the story of the Barred Rock Runt who grew out to be a big guy. Thats the complete opposite of what I would want in a Barred Rock, if I had that breed I would want him to get big and fleshy early so I could use him in a meat bird project. As far as being a flock rooster its just a really good story of a Runt becoming something special.

I only kept him so long because he was my niece's favorite... I actually went ahead and rehomed him the day before Thanksgiving. I live in town and I'm not supposed to have a roo, and I was getting worried one of the neighbors would complain. If that had happened I would have gotten busted for having six more hens then I am supposed to and 15 rabbits. He had to go! The hens and rabbits can keep a secret, but he was terrible at it!

View attachment 1602353 View attachment 1602354 here he is, the one on the right is the same breed and age their columbine Wyandotte’s a large breed about the same size as an Orpington we feed them scraps, weeds and avigrain scratch mix I don’t think it has to do with the food he was hatched small
Cute!
All you can do is see that he is eating very well. What protein % feed are you giving. He may benefit from a little extra protein, but he will either catch up or not.

He is really special looking! I hope the mystery gets solved, but even if it doesn't, he is soooooo cute!
