So excited! We went to the new Rural King close to home today and got some amazing new chicks! We got an Ancona, a Blue Andalusian, a Silver Laced Wyandotte, a Buff Brahma and one more Amerucana. They also had Sicilian Buttercups, Polish and Black Astralorps, but

five was enough. I've never seen these breeds in farm stores. So excited!

My dad might b a little upset. We ordered from Murray McMurray Hatchery bc I didn't think they'd have them. I guess hind sight is 20/20. At least I'm still getting some beautiful birds with a great purpose: eggs& breeding. A couple for meat, but the rest for eggs.

Chickkrakkd - yes! I was shocked. Already have 9 chicks and 13 hens...didn't need more, but could pass them up! What all did you order from MM? I'm sure they will be wonderful birds!

We got RIR, BO, & of course my Blue Andalusians. 5 hens& 2 roosters of each of those 3 breeds. 3 Roos (1 of each breed) will be killed for meat. The other 3 I'm gonna keep for breeding.

Chickkrakidd - sounds like a nice flock! I love my BUff Orpington!

LostNConfused - I've never had Batams, so I'm not sure I have any good advice for you. But Amerucanas are great and easy to care for. Enjoy!

I've purchased quite a few chicks from my local Rural King and am very satisfied with them. I got a few white leghorns Rir's barred rocks easter eggers and a couple pekin and inform runner ducks. The only complaint I have is that there were alot of cockerels and they were all purchased as pullets

Not so excited, I asked/paid for Speckled Sussex and they gave me another breed, maybe Easter Eggers or something else, very frustrating after 14-16 weeks realizing you have been feeding the wrong chicks. What to do? I do not know but I am not buying from them any more.
