Sad to hear that Sandhill is slipping in quality. I saw a trio of Orloffs from Ideal while at the feed store once. Very handsome birds. I never liked them from pictures, but in person, they were really handsome. And I love the mahogany ones.

justdawn, you had asked for some pics of orloff chicks. I did post some back a few pages, post #40 but I also just snapped a few today of some chicks. The other pics have some chicks and their parents.

I had two hatch today too so soon as they are fluffed out I can upload a few more. Mine are spangled bantam's. Hopefully this come out ok, i was just using my iphone camera. fyi, the legs look kind of orange in some of these pics but they are truly a nice bright yellow, think it's the camera phone and it's lack of a flash. the earlier pics were using my actual camera so the colors look better.

the first X are of a chick that hatched last weekend.

and these are of two different chicks, both about 3 weeks old.

Thanks for posting the pics of your chicks. This pretty much secures that I don't have any baby Russian Orloffs. I was still secretly hoping in the back of my mind but none of my chicks look like yours. CRY again.

If I didn't need the standard spangled in my project, I'd switch over to those.
