Russian Orloffs

It sounds like between you and MFB I need to take a tour of the south and come home with birds.  The closest breeder of RO is about four or five hours away and then the next was a person who was selling all their birds out of NY not that long ago.  Anyone else?  Buller?  Buller?

Come on down! The weather is great right now--it hit 80 degrees today. Actually, I wish it would cool down. I am still battling the flies. We need a good freeze to knock their numbers down, them and the darned grasshoppers. How am I supposed to start a winter garden here with all the grasshoppers waiting to eat the new seedling lettuce??

I liked. The next person I know who has RO is an hour away and giving me a nice rooster in spring. She only has a few but has had them for about 5 years and isn't breeding or selling. But she is giving me a freebie boy so I can't knock that sideways.

Winter winter go away, I want to breed my Orloffs today. Not a good start to winter huh? I'd take grasshoppers over snow.

So this is Donald. He is so cool! Im hoping hes going to work out, he was supposed to be a hen. Hes not picking on my silkies and is a complete gentlemen so far. He has let my dog know that she cant have his snacks tho.

Wow he is getting prettier every day. I wish I would have gotten some more of these guys. (Hens tho).

I have 3 awesome Spangled RO hens that I am willing to sell. The first $100 takes all three. Two of them are 1½ old and the other one was born this summer. Anyone interested for photo and more information please email me at [email protected]
I will not be replying back on this site.

Where is this boy from? A few more pics would be good. Feet and side profile.
I got him from a place in Gilroy called Feathered Haven. Are these chickens rare? Im so in love with this guy, Im even saving his feathers that he drops. Hes a perfect gentlemen so far with my silkies which is awesome. I'll get some more pictures up maybe tomorrow night. His feet are a nice orange/yellow color. I dont see the formation of any spurs, do some roosters not have them?

I am not familiar with the breeder but they look like a few out of preservation centers. If this IS a boy please remind me of how old and get us another pic of him from the side. RO are listed as rare but they are making a very slow comeback. There are some dedicated breeders in here and if you read back through some of the pages in the thread you will find they are quite nice about posting pics too :)

They arent a breeder, they just sell chicks in the spring and summer time. Not sure where they get their chicks from, I think it may be from several different places. Donald is barely 3 months old. Heres some more pictures. So do some roosters not have spurs? I dont even see a nub!

Okay now I can see that this is a male. Pretty good color and posture for all I know. Wait to see what others have to say too though. Spurs come in late. And where this is a heritage bird maybe even later. I don't see them start to bud till near 6 mos usually. Nice yellow shanks and good feet for what I can see. These birds take a while to set their colors, two years typically, so while his markings look pretty good now you'll have to wait to see more spangling if its going to develop. Please keep posting and pm the details of how to get in contact with these folks please.
