Russian Orloffs

2 pullets laid their first eggs yesterday! 9 months old almost to the day. No eggs today so maybe we'll be eating homegrown eggs again soon:-)

congrats on your first eggs

Thank you, thank you. Cold stuff coming the next few days. Is everyone doing okay?
We've already had multiple nights of negative temps, the coldest was -27, right in the middle of my ROs molt and they did fine. At least now they have feathers for any further cold snaps!

Warm here today, about 21 degrees with windchill. Was -33 Friday all day with the windchill. Birds are doing fine.

18 degrees here now. High of -5 tomorrow with wind chills -25. Getting a foot of snow today with blizzard conditions. But all is well with chickens. :)

Sounds like we're all sharing some lovely winter weather!:-) The storm is moving in here too. Wind has gotten rough, snow is supposed to start tonight and continue tomorrow. Temps predicted at -15 to -20 with the wind chill for tomorrow with worse coming Tuesday. The only thing that gets me is the waterers! I don't do electricity at all to any coops outside other than the brooder which is now empty. At $7 each I haven't mustered up the dough to spend on extra hanging waterers to do the exchange thing when I keep building more coops in need of a hanging waterer;-)

Gander- I bet your birds are very healthy and hardy. Glad to know there are others that follow the mama hen pattern instead of the thermometer and constant heat only pattern!
