Russian Orloffs

Pics
I'm an Orloff newbie. I have a nice, young quad that I got from Welp hatchery with my 4-H group. I saw the breed on FeatherSite and fell in love. I love the beards and their markings! My little flock of Orloffs is quite sweet and I have them trained like puppy dogs to follow me out of the coop, because when they were too little to be in the big run, I'd lead them out to put then in the chicken tractor in the lawn in the summer so they could enjoy the grass. Whenever I come in the coop and I go to feed them, they will jump up and peck my coat and look at me like little lost puppy dogs..Lol. I love them so much!

My cockerel is Rhubarb, and his ladies are Fern, Willow, and Cinnamon. I love them

Here's some pictures of them. Pardon the crappy quality on some of them.

A kind of blurry picture of the girls, well, two of them and one's tail

My Houdan pullet snuck in, too.

Quick question though...Is it just 'cause of the hatchery deal that some of my Orloffs have yellow legs and some of them have white-ish colored ones? What's the appropriate color? I know the standard says lead, is that just a fancy way of saying the whiter color is more suitable for the breed? LOL.

Great pictures - they are adorable!

Every time I've tried to take pictures of my girls, they come up and start pecking at the camera - they are super nosy!!

Happy New Year Everyone!!!!

Happy New Year all!

I finally got my first Russian Orloff today after being in the hobby for a little more than seven months! I've had my heart set on one of these, but nobody had any nearby for sale. I bought this one from a member of BYC in fact. He said that this rooster will develop more spangling as he gets older. The feet are a vibrant yellow; the hallmark of a good Orloff. How does his stature look? He doesn't have much of a beard yet, but he does have ear muffs. He's about eight months old. I'm quarantining him for a week before adding him in with my other birds. I also have to find a new home for my black sex-link roo before the Orloff can go in the coop. I tried adding him in there tonight and the black sex-link kicked the Orloff over right away. They were both flying straight up in the air kicking each other; it looked like a scene out of The Matrix. He hasn't crowed once yet; is this breed known for having quieter roos? I would like to find one or two spangled Orloff hens in spring. Here are some pics of Yuri:
