I'm an Orloff newbie. I have a nice, young quad that I got from Welp hatchery with my 4-H group. I saw the breed on FeatherSite and fell in love. I love the beards and their markings! My little flock of Orloffs is quite sweet and I have them trained like puppy dogs to follow me out of the coop, because when they were too little to be in the big run, I'd lead them out to put then in the chicken tractor in the lawn in the summer so they could enjoy the grass. Whenever I come in the coop and I go to feed them, they will jump up and peck my coat and look at me like little lost puppy dogs..Lol. I love them so much!
My cockerel is Rhubarb, and his ladies are Fern, Willow, and Cinnamon. I love them
Here's some pictures of them. Pardon the crappy quality on some of them.
Fern in my lap.
My cockerel, Rhubarb, yesterday morning in the coop.
A kind of blurry picture of the girls, well, two of them and one's tail
My Houdan pullet snuck in, too.
Quick question though...Is it just 'cause of the hatchery deal that some of my Orloffs have yellow legs and some of them have white-ish colored ones? What's the appropriate color? I know the standard says lead, is that just a fancy way of saying the whiter color is more suitable for the breed? LOL.
