Russian Orloffs

He doesn't look good for a SS based on the little I know. Weird.

Eggs in the bator. IDK why I bother when they would be just fine outside these days I am waiting on a last shipment of eggs but have heard NOTHING from the sender since I posted their money so... they might not be coming.

ashandvine I'm sure you'll get your eggs, I got mine the same day I spoke to the seller as they thought they had send me the tracking for it but didn't. Hope your eggs in the bator are doing well. I candled mine last night seems like maybe 2 or 3 out of 9. Not sure about the one that had a small crack & stuck to the turner, it looks like there's something in there but who knows. Two more weeks on the Mahogany though, most seem like they're doing good.

Took some pics of the kids today

This one has grey Muffs & Beard, shame cause I like the colors on it.

I'm looking for some good quality Russian Orloffs. I'm in Michigan. I would like to get spangled and splash. Black too but I'm not sure if there are any in the US, so that may be a future project for me. I'm already searching for 2 other Russian breeds which I may have to import so that will monopolize me for some time I'm sure.

I have 6 spangled (3 hens 3 roos) and 1 splash roo. Not sure how I got a splash really lol. I'd say my birds are Ok. I can't find an SoP for those color Russians so I won't know until then. Plus they are still young, 3 and 1/2 months. I wish they were a bit darker in color personally. I prefer the darker colors.

If you know where I can get any good birds please PM me. Or if you have any info on the SoP for spangled.

Thanks!

So sorry! They really do not take too well to the heat and need something to help keep them cool--mister, frozen water bottles, of course lots of shade. This heat is really tough on all the birds. So far I have not lost any more since I got my mister working well again.
Sorry to those that lost birds in the heat. If it got to 108 F I'd probably be dead too

. Heat makes me very sick, despite being young and in great shape. Doctors all say they can find nothing wrong with me

. I guess me n' the birds are gonna get along quite well.

Anything over 70 and I'm roasting! I hate heat, I live in Northern Michigan and its Still to hot in the summers for me. -16 F with a - 40 wind chill does not bother me a bit though, or my horse. He loves to go tromp around the field with me on any cold blistery day, meanwhile my other horse is freezing her butt off in her stall with 2 extra heavy blankets on (she loves heat). But in summer he's right there with me panting and standing with his face in front of the fan. When it's hot I hose him down and hose my self down while I'm at it. LOL!

I'd rather have negatives than 80s any day. So my RO's are going to fit right in here, under the shade trees - by the fan - in the Blistering 70s and 80s lol. And in the cold winter days they can come make snow angles with my horse and I.

Guess I picked the right breed!

Hi,
Been watching and reading all the posts...finally got a pic of my orloffs today...they dont hold still very well. New to the breed Got them on a whim, I have raised Asil, LF Cornish, And Bantam Malay for a long while. These guys are certainly different. So far they are taking our in excess of 100 degree temps well. They are 13 weeks old in this pic, yellow legged, three have proper combs, one is narrow and might prove to be a pea comb, this same pullet has stubs, one of the young stags has mottleing instead of spangle ( but i think he is the best on type) and has alot of white.
let me know what you guys think....i think they have to many feathers compared to my other stock!!!!...kinda freaks me out to handle all the fluff!
