How can you tell at 2 weeks? I haven't been able to figure it out even close to that early.I have some Large Speckled Russian Orloff's roo's that are only 2 weeks old and they will be up for sale in another 6 to 8 weeks as I am finding I have more then original anticipated![]()
Oh, thanks so much for sharing! My girl was hatched in July & not yet laying, but I was concerned with her lack of spangling. You gave me piece of mind!!For those who haven't seen the potential difference in birds after their first adult molt. These girls are actually only 11 months, but they matured early (hatched Feb '12, first eggs at 18-20 weeks), and I think that triggered a winter molt. Going to hatch a little later this spring, hoping to push the molt more towards the 18 month mark.![]()

I stuck my head in the house when I opened the nest box door and sure enough they had it toasty warm in there. My kid had to 'encourage' the last cockerel out after everyone else came down for food and non frozen water. Oldest says "Don't they come from Russia? There's way more snow there!"
