Russian Orloffs

I'll let you know, I think I may put a little sharpie marker mark on the light gold ones somewhere like the leg or ? so I can tell them if they change later. A couple of the light ones look like they have nice little muffs to me so we'll see! No worries at any rate Marcy I am so happy to have these.

I buy bulk 4" colored zip ties off ebay and use them to mark chicks. They are easy to cut off with a wire cutter, the kind that has one side flat. You have to really watch to make sure they don't get too tight as the birds grow, but inexpensive and easy to cut off and put on a new one. I used to use the colored vet wrap like I put on those older chicks, but they kept getting that off, especially once they were moved outside. I'm not sure how long a sharpie marker mark would last, you would have to keep applying I'm sure, if you wanted to follow the color for some time.

I use the zip ties too. If someone is buying chicks that have a band on I usually go ahead and cut it off. Most of the time the color bands are for my reference anyhow (parentage, generation, hatch date, etc) and not so much male/female as everyone wants to know;-) Vibrant looking chicks for sure!
