fart eggs, used to be called wind eggs. they were thought 100 or so yrs. ago to be laid by roosters because they have no yolk in them. i have gotten rather small eggs for the breed about half sized and i did hatch it. it needed help at hatch , stayed small and at full growth was quite smaller then its clan. it lived about a yr. and was part of the flock. a true wind egg will not hatch. i collect mine now, seem to get my fair share, and i blow them out and paint them. very cute . no one believes they are real. LOL i have a special nest in the house i use to keep them for decoration.

I did not know they would hatch but thank you for the info

i dont know that it was a good idea because i did have to help but if it has a yolk and has been fertilized of course, it is hatchable. it was an experiment for me. cute little bugger though.

EledaWV here's a pic of a cockerel at 4 months. Notice the chest is mainly black & white and in both photos you can see the pointy sickle feathers. A female will have a multi-colored/tri-colored chest for the most part.

gander007 those are Mahogany ROs?

@vtguania , thank you very much I got the new Rooster back in March and he was hen pecked right from the start and having spurs I gave him to be more then a year old but this is one of the only pictures I have of him before being pecked apart ....

He looks alright here but now the same lady's have trimmed all his neck feathers and running under the shed some of his back feathers are messed up but he is doing his job as a rooster .......

The Lady's I purchased from @desertmarcy , and the Rooster from another person in Arizona so do you think the chicks look good so far or should I find another Rooster for the girls to breed with as the lady's are great I can count on an egg even in + 115 F degrees temp and the other hens I have I have to wait till it cools off a bit before they produce their egg's .......

gander007 I was asking if they where Mahogany ROs since they resembled them in color. desertmarcy's birds are good quality, The chicks are still young, I would grow them out some as they will change considerably
