Russian Orloffs

Oooooooh!

What is the first bird? How can you tell the roos from the hens? Mine are a few months old and heck if I'll ever figure it out.

I swear there was another pic there of a big crested bird

The older ones I have are all different ages so I can't tell who's who. I hope I don't have all roos! I really need to renew my GFM so I can post pics again.

Here are a couple of weak photos of my Mahogany Pullet- she's not keen on being photographed, nor is anyone else from the group, but I snagged her quick. She's about 12 weeks old.

Finally was able to get some pics up! I'm afraid all 3 of these guys are roos- just can't tell. They ALL have naked backs from the olive egger roo they were in with- so I can't see any saddle feathers. Everyone has pink combs.

The little colorful roo is an orloff x ameraucana bantam.

HappyMtn...get us some head shots of those "guys"....especially the one with the least white/mostly brown. In the pic, that one's legs look like a pullet to me.

Well the eggs were Buff Orpington in actuality, but my Russian Orloffs successfuly hatched their chicks today! I had two that went broody together. Now they are being moms together.

Are your orloffs low on the totem pole in pecking order? Mine sure are and my BO are very high. I was saying to my husband, I wonder if they will recognize they are raising more of their tormentors?

The first nest was a day ahead of the second and I had to move them all together as the second bird HAD to join the first nest! She was dying to be a mom and these two have been broody for several months. They seem to have done a great job together though. I thought I'd share that for anyone wondering how they do raising chicks.

No, it's just the pics. She's really got a flat expanse and almost no elevation.
