Russian orloffs

I ordered 6 RIR hatching eggs for my incubator but when 3 chicks hatched I knew they were definitely not RIRs. As they grew I saw they had beards and ear tufts and bright orange legs. So I checked out my chicken books and discovered they were Russian Orloffs. Knowing how rare they are, I was absolutely thrilled. They are the sweetest pets and so funny. I am delighted with them and want some more. I've tried to source some pullets on the internet but they are so hard to find. I have one rooster and 2 hens and want some unrelated pullets so that I can start breeding them. I have had many different breeds over the past few years but these Orloffs are easier to tame than even Pekins.

In case you are still interested in Russians- Welp hatchery sells them. Prices pretty much waiver around the same as other hatcheries but remember that there is no shipping fee! They ship all year round, minimums stay at 25 chicks, 30 for bantams but you can mix. Not too bad if you take extras into account for defects, a different breed chick mixed in, non correct traits (if you are into the standards of perfection since they are close to being admitted) and cockerel to pullet ratios. Everyone loves a "different" looking pet so it shouldn't be hard to sell the ones tou don't want:)

I have two young hens. They haven't started laying yet, but they are fun. I am just a backyard hobbiest and I also have two Bar Hollands and a Golden Sexling.
