I had a pair of Blue Fawn Silkies from Holderread Waterfowl, I bought them this winter as Adult ESQ. A few weeks ago my duck came up missing. I have LGD's but I believe a hawk carried her away. (no signs of her, not a feather was lost) I know I should have had her in a netted run but I have a huge run with a stream running through and I wanted her and her drake to enjoy that area, well I messed up and lost her. I had 4 of her eggs as she had just started laying, two of the eggs are not fertile but I do have 2 eggs that have been in the bator since 4/13 and they are developing and have good movement.
I have only incubated duck eggs a few times. I am keeping the humidity between 20 and 35 I let it drop to 20 and then raise it to 35. (dry incubation method) I have not been cooling the eggs or misting. Should I start doing that? I do it with my goose eggs but I'm second guessing myself with these eggs because I'm so afraid of not getting any of her ducklings. I don't know much about silkie duck incubation as they are a fairly new breed and there aren't many people who have them and have incubated a lot of them.
