Never raising chicks before I'm so curious to get feedback... Hens? Roosters? I know ONE is def. a rooster- it's vocals... The others just "peep"...

Also are they feathered enough to keep outside full time in terms of weather... May get dwn to 40F but mostly warmer

Any idea how I could tell the same- ? They weren't "sexed?"... Just pick- but preferably were wanting layers

The boys will have larger and redder combs than the girls. Probably bigger feet also. I see some pullets but mostly cockerels. Sorry.

Hey... No worries, i appreciate any/all feedback, I'm stoked either way!

Do you see at least 4 girls?

I see at least what look like 5 girls. You still have many roosters though. Those people you bought the chickens from aren't very reliable at sexing chickens,if you bought them at a place that advertised girls.

They didn't advertise girl- "straight run" is it called? I'm happy with 5 girls :). A cpl meat birds and a healthy cockerel for many to come! This is so exciting !!!

Yes,when you buy chicks that you do not know are male or female,it's called "straight run". A rooster or two,or nine in my case

is always nice to have. You can still eat fertilized eggs, and the joy of seeing a chick pip its way into the world is magic. A good rooster will most likely die to protect his hens...very worthwhile. How many roosters do you plan on keeping? You can have at minimum 4 girls and a rooster, but if you plan on having multiple roosters, you need at least 8-10 hens (or more) for each cock so they don't fight.
