Sad about my babies =[

Best wishes for your surviving babies- what a terrible experience!
(and as the wife of a postal worker, I want to encourage you to call supervisor after supervisor until someone listens to the situation- that's ridiculous and unacceptable...)

They will replace/refund your second order...I had the same issue, and I asked about it...Lost 13 the first order, and I just got my second in today with 3 dead, and a few looking like they arent going to make it...Wouldn't be do bad if they werent so expensive!!

Sorry bout your chicks!

I received my replacement order from MM today - PO here is excellent, call right away but I have lost two and probably another 2-3 are not going to make it. In the past I have not had a problem with chicks from MM a bit of the luck of the draw. Any shipped babies no matter what time of year may not make it! You do not know how long or how they hatched etc. I hope your other chicks will thrive! While on the subject if you read about all the chicken lovers that hatch their own babies - it is the same story sometimes, fail to thrive, don't pip or zip or zip and bleed out etc.

So sorry about your babies.

srry about youre chicks i was having trouble with mine from ideal lost 12 in 3days do to bad luck some just died and 3 got trapped under heatlamp when it fell i was about to call ideal becouse i knew it wasnt my fualt or shipping after 3days but i decided against it since i still have over the amount i rly wanted and only .99 each (special)

I ordered form Cackle and ordered 20 got 22, two died a couple days later. Nice chicks too. Hatch date was the 19th and I recieved them the 20th. From what I've heard MM isn't as great as it once was. My mother in-law said 20 years ago you got quality now not so much. Sorry about your loss. It's always hard when little ones are lost. Good luck with the others!

just a quick update - Hubby went out and looked @ the box the chicks were shipped in. There were droppings on the TOP of the box! This means that someone flipped the box a few times, I'm sure. I called back MM and they were very sympathetic. So far, 5 more have died. I'm hoping I can save the last 10. I filed a complaint via the USPS 800 number, but since it happened to me twice, the woman escalated the claim to Consumer Affairs (which is in charge of the PO..go figure?!). MM offered to replace every last one for free, which is great. I am planning on getting them sent to my mom's post office instead of mine. I got extension numbers, and case numbers for every phone I called today, lol. I want my babies to get to me safely! =[ Everyone agreed (whom I talked to on the phone) that this was just negligence and incompetence on the postal office side. Considering they YELLED at me before hanging up, I'm assuming they have a guilty feeling? I was very amicable and professional..no need for yelling.

Anyway, here's hoping I get all my babies to me safely next time (later this spring).

Thanks for all the encouragement and advise, I loved reading it! This place truly is a chicken loving goldmine.
