I've dealt with alot of shipping birds to and from me, and NO way in downsouth world I would ever ship birds in a small box like that! Even a very reputable breeder would know how many birds to put in a box and I;ve had a Hamburg breeder out in OR, shipped me TWO boxes with FOUR bantams in it. He even threw in a free rooster with the trio! He even contacted me HOW I would like the birds to be shipped in, like one bantam for one Horizon box or two in a box which he stressed is the LIMIT.

I use Horizon boxes for EACH bird or two very young birds with room to turn around if they need to move.

I have not ever got a dead bird either!

Its horrible from what the pictures showed and no excuse for this mess either!

I'd just tell him unless he wants to be reported for animal cruelty he needs to quit calling you and he needs to consider the trade finished. I raise BLRWs and I know there is no way that he could get all 4 in there without physically cramming them in. I can't imagine even trying to put the roo and one hen in a single box. Did you bid on these thru eggbid...or just connect with him thru it? You should send those pictures to the person that runs it. This person needs to be banned from selling.

if he shipped them improperly that it's on him and his loss, you shouldn't have to send him anything and he should understand that but if you can work it out between yourselves that would be a good thing too, also another viewpoint who knows how the birds were handled in transit, they were probably boxed in and couldn't get any air, who knows
