Well, I know he isn't a Peacock, but I still liked him an awful lot. I think he challenged my Turkey for her food and she killed him. Hubby was feeding this afternoon and Bandit was fine he threw down some scratch and fed the turkey, then walked away for a couple minutes, he heard a squabble and by the time he got back bandit was on the ground convulsing and turning purple. Less than a year old. Turtee killed a female yellow golden pheasant years ago by pecking the back of her head and I'm thinking she did the same and cracked his skull, she is a big girl. Sorry for the wrong species post, but I know you guys a lot better than I know most folks in the chicken section.

I am so sorry he was a pretty looking boy.

I would pen that turkey hen away from smaller birds if you can. I wouldn't want two kills to become 3.

The set up we use has her penned and the chickens can come and go, the problem is the roosters want to be dominant and boss her around, so they will enter her enclosure and try to chase her off her food. I really don't blame her too much he gave her some good pecks and drew blood in the past, she is just a very big girl who doesn't know how hard she can peck. She is over 9 now and waddles very slowly so she can't catch any of the smaller birds but they will stick their heads in her dish to get her food and she defends it.
