Tomorrow is payday so I will be able to get the electrolytes. I called our feed store here in Bothell and she said they have Durvet and it will cost $4.95 so I will be able to get that tomorrow. Same with the yogurt. Hadn't had any money the other day so 'thankfully' I will tomorrow.
Hmm, a blockage. I was thinking about that, but wasn't sure so I'll keep an eye on that. Thank you so much for that info.
She's actually been pretty good at nursing. When I put her by the food - I go in there every two hours to get her to eat and drink, as a just in case she doesn't get up and do it herself thing. So, when I [very] lightly push on the top of her head so it faces her water bowl and see that the [very] tip of her beak touches the water, she drinks, then starts drinking herself. She's a little slow with it, but that's okay. I have the time. I have as much as she needs. After half an hour she will be done with eating and drinking so I put her back by the bed, helping her walk a step or two so I make sure that she's still using her legs and putting a little strength to her bad leg, but I keep a finger underneath her - the way you'd support someone while they are recovering from an accident (my mom went to nursing school and I watched a lot
) - and it seems to be working. She's hobbling around on her own, but gaining strength in her leg - yay!
Neil said it best, "That's one small step for man; one giant leap for mankind."
UPDATE on her progress - She had a solid dropping!!
Oh my god I didn't think I could be so happy about a solid dropping but I am!!! So I take that as meaning her body is absorbing nutrients - at least enough for her to process her feed.
Okay, the Avia Charge 2000. I just got it today (wow 3 days!) and it says 2-3 tsp per gallon of water. Okay. Done that. Now, is this a 'daily' water source? For lifetime usage every day? I did see you reduce the amount in water for adults though. Can I use it for the other two non-sick chicks? I know it's vitamins and such, but I wanted to make 100% sure. I gave Haley the water and she quite enjoyed it. I think she prefers this "med" than my other "med" source I've been giving her
She still makes icky face when I give her the vitamins. And, when giving her the electrolytes. Can I combine that with the Avia Charged water - meaning put it in that water, or do I take out the Avia Charged water, and then use the electrolytes in plain water?
