Sad Vent :(

Oh how I wish I could help!

I cannot imagine how it must feel being so far away at such monumental times in your family's lives! Maybe try this... try not to focus on the things you will miss, but the things you will get to see instead!
You'll miss seeing your little brothers off to the first day of highschool-but you'll get to see them graduate!
You'll miss the birth of your neice/nephew, but you can celebrate their first day of school!
I do not know what you're going through, and I am sorry I can't fix it. But your BYC family (while no where close to your real family) is here for you. Anytime you want to chat, jump on here and find someone to PM- or start another thread. We're here for you the best we can be

I lived away from home, once in Georgia and once in Texas. Not overseas but still far enough.
I missed family terribly. Hopefully you can find a way to get home at least once in a while, I would think there would be some kind of military transport that might be cheaper? Thats what my daughters did (married to military personel). I never asked the specifics of it though.

Its not easy traveling with a young child, but I used to do it with four under the age of 6....
That said, the more you can focus on something else and get your mind at least somewhat off it, the better. I know, easier said than done.

I really appreciate everyone's advice, THANK YOU, I was having a really bad day yesterday, I'm not sure why... I do love it here, I just miss my family and having to shop for wedding gifts, baby shower items and what not online for family is fairly disheartening... All in all I have a great life; I just really miss my family

I woke up to a fresh batch of newly hatched chicks this morning, all breeds I donÂ’t have that a great friend here on BYC sent me, so IÂ’m sure that most of you can understand how that can brighten my day

Home sickness and depression would consume me . I dont blame you one bit. its natural. i am too close to my mom, dad, little brother, and other family members that i wouldnt even move 1 state away, let alone 10000 miles. You can find your courage! Look at it like it is an extended vacation, take lots of pics, travel while you are there, if possible. that way when his time is through you can bring home all sorts of pictures and souvineers that your family will love to see. they then can experience it with you... also, make friends while you are there to help pass time, i know its definatley not the same, but work with what you have available to you. also, Please try to get into the skype, myspace, etc. that way you can post pics and video and so can your family, it wont be as good as if you were right there but i think it will help with the lonley, homesick feelings that you have. I wish you all the luck in the world, if you ever need anyone to talk to PM me. tell your husband that i appreciate what he is doing for our country..take care of yourself;)

What's the story?!? I wanna know!!! Please!?!

Well, let's see it's nice here, very pretty, my two younger brothers are 14 and 12, I have taken care of them for the last 10 years but when I moved my custody went to my mom. Hm, Guam food is called Chamorro, itÂ’s yummy, and everything is home-made just about! Funny you should I ask, I'm a bake-o-holic, it's about the only thing I can do lol I'm not a good cook at all but ask me to bake something and I create miracles

Omega is my little turd chicken, she hatched in a pasture after I threw her out as an egg thinking she passed b/c of an power outage, it was day 22 and no sign of life I had just had surgery and was loopy so I tossed the eggs, it's almost always 100% humidity here and about 90' so she had no problems hatching out... My neighbor found her wandering in the pasture, she was the only one to hatch so now she is becoming a house chicken

h I don't have the heart to kick her out of the house, she is tough and I'm in love

put yourself on the list for military space available flights.
Hope you find a way to visit home soon. I was an army mom for a while and my son spent almost all his time in germany when he wasn't in Iraq. I am glad they are home now. Until you get home at least you seem to be in a beautiful place.
Oh maybe some of your family could go there--that is what I did. I went and spent almost a month with my son in Germany. They even let me stay with them on base which saved me a lot of money .
