Come on, you are just teasing. What is the temperature regimen like? Based on info you provided so far you are in an area that is at least half the size of the continental US and there are mountains.

Besides that, did rooster have a drink immediately prior to observation of purple come?

It wasn't the whole comb, it was the back that was a bit blue. Wish I had a pic..
Don't think it's anything serious he does that when he's sad or stressed anyway.
 
Mine will some times turn purple when taking a big swig of water because they must hold their breath while drinking. It is really evident when they are really thirsty after eating a lost of dry feed. The dry feed is like a sponge in the crop that must be hydrated prior to processing by the gut. The birds effectively salivate to to hydrate which pulls water from blood causing sensation of dehydration.

Definitely not purple. And he didn't take a swig of water so I think he saw the dead body before me..
