Hi
Lost two chicks this year, trying to keep a stiff upper lip, but it’s just not working . It’s just hard ....
They were hatchery chicks, one wouldn’t eat or drink much, and I think got run over by the older chicks. it was a rockette, and the other barred rock, was pecked severely in the neck, which I didn’t catch soon enough due to some stupid circumstances which I am still mad about. Since then I have tried To move the remaining 2 into a cage, but my 5 week Ameraucauna rooster or EE , became distressed, he seems to like the babies, I catch him sleeping with them.Sorry about the losses. Do you know if they were sick or hurt? What were the symptoms?
Thanks, that helps....Isn't it crazy how quickly you get attached to those tiny little fuzzballs? The responsibility of caring for them is so heavy and the pain when you lose them is so deep.
When I lost my first chickens (totally my fault for forgetting to close a coop), I wanted to get rid of them all because it hurt so much. It only hurts because you care; it's part of being human. I still remember each of my "lost" babies, and I do the best I can to take care of others and give them the lives I wish all of mine could have had.
I am sorry for your loss and hope you heal in your own good time.
