Sad :(

Poop. Just got home to find one egg wiggling around and another pipped at the wrong end. Again a little beak showing. I took away the loose egg and I have tucked him up and going for the best. ... again. How long do I leave it to see if he needs help? I don't want the same thing to happen to this one :(

Hang in there! Since its only day 27 they still have some time. Before I put my eggs in I spent a week reading posts on here. There's so much to read! I read about someone having a similar problem as you. They said to wait 36 hours then help. Sometimes the duckling is weak and just needs some extra time. I keep shining my light into the incubator to see if anyone is pecking but still nothing. Its only day 26 though so hopefully they are not all dead too!

I had the problem with a chick coming out on the wrong side of the egg before. My quail chicks hatched last week and two out of the six came out the wrong end! They made a large hole then just popped out.

I have seven Ancona duck eggs. When I candled them three days ago they were all developing so I'm hoping for a good hatch. Or at least two females... This will be my first time hatching ducks and owning them!

I how all goes well for you. :) you wouldn't think it was hard work but it is lol. Sadly the other one that piped the wrong end was dead by the time I got home. A couple of the other eggs had no movement so I did all the tests and they had gone too. So from 12 eggs down to two so I must be doing something wrong I think. Al though the they were all off eBay and I have read bad things about buying eggs from there plus the travelling part doesn't help. The major ducks all had detached air cells and all developed saddle cell. One of the eggs I have broken own is full of thick Amber jelly like fluid so I don't think the chick had a good. I might wait before I will try again :(

I know. It has put me off a bit tbh but hubby days not to give up! I just don't want to cause ducklings suffering if it something I am doing wrong.
I bought two lots off snowywam and I have 2 in the baitor left. Popped home at lunchtime and couldn't find any movement and theyhad not even piped. So I took the chance and I removed the air sac and pulled back the membrane as there were no veins and their little beaks popped straight out! One was cheeping to me and the is very week. So I have wrapped them in damp tissue to stop them drying out and put them back in. I feel at this point I had nothing much too loose. I wonder what I will find when I get home.

Good luck! I'm always this way with hatching. I only hatched duck eggs once and I did it with a home made incubator. They were shipped to me. 2 out of 6 eggs hatched and one baby lived. The other had the same problem as you are describing. So it may not be you as much as just bad luck. In my case the odds were against me and I still got one baby. Don't give up on hatching though. You will be so proud the first time you get a healthy baby. It's a wonderful feeling that I can't describe to know you helped the little one into the world.
