Saddest thing ever witnessed

Most of them are,the youngest are three weeks or atleast in that range, their the ones crying the most, the other cry out every once and awhile but have just faced the facts that she’s gone .But,the chicks weren’t reared off naturally, that’s the issue. If they were reared of my naturally they would have known its time but were still being very babied.
Here they are sleeping on me,their calming down.

Poor things. Are they old enough to be on their own? Are they with the rest of the flock yet?

That's heartbreaking. I'm so sorry about your hen. :hugs Foxes are one of our worst predators here.

We've incorporated an electric poultry fence. It's worked very well. :) As well, our LGD for the sheep is staying here so I let the flock free range in the day when we're here. I'm really happy we have a working dog and I find it's a good system.

I have a German Shepherd and want another dog, escpecially after today, what do you suggest?

Stupid, stupid foxes.Recently bought and hatched severl chicks for my mother hen,Little bit a bantam to raise. She “was” a great mother until this morning. She was taking care of her babies and chattering to me as usually. All I did was leave to get a some cereal.Heard my ducks and roosters raising crap,as well as my dog,and went out to the yard to fine mothe hens feathers everywhere.Obviously she gave her life for her babies. They were all together accept for two or three, all remain healthy and alive, but looking for mama.Even though these are not humans,it’s still sad for anything to lose it’s mother.Defiantly will be catching it hopefully and not have this problem. We stopped having this problem and now I know for a fact it’s gonna stir up again.
Ugh
Sorry sorry for you! Stupid Robin Hood's back to robbing the rich to feed the poor...I once had a coyote eat a hen and her chicks!

It really upsets me.Each chicken has their own personality and hers just topped it off.Even though she was continuously broody and never laid because she was broody twenty four seven, the times she was off the nest (Usually a week or so),she was the best.Maybe she will show up tomorrow,as we have had hens survive fox attacks before and make it out alive, with one hen returning back home.
