Seeing the labels of the different kind of feathers on the PHOTO of an actual roo with all the feather types is SO helpful! If hens can have hackle feathers, I have hope that my "brownie" is a pullet! I'll love her/him either way, but a full sized hen (eggs) would be nice since my others are bantams! I for sure have at least one roo!

I wouldnt go by the comb at all i have many with light combs that ended up to be roos after. Same with birds that get combs fast turned out being pullets later. One thing you can be sure of when the time comes if it lays eggs its a pullet if it crows its a rooster. But saddle feathers are a great indication aslong as you dont confuse them for something else.
I have had pullets "crow" too. It turned out they were just testing out their "grown up" voice. I'm not very experienced with chickens, but it seems to me everyone has differing opinions on how to tell which is which but it seems to me you've just got to wait and see if you get eggs.

Has anyone ever seen a hen with pointed saddle feathers. I had a group of 7 chicks very close in age. 4 of them grew quickly and it was very apparent that they were boys. I got rid of them. I have 3 left. 2 are for sure pullets but I have one that is still confusing. He/she isn't having large development in the comb area and isn't developing cicle feathers but does have the glossy green color and saddle feathers that are pointed. He/she is pretty content in my flock and my roo has tried to mount him/her. I can't tell if its a dominance thing or not. I'm hoping that even if he/she is a boy that my rooster will be okay with him since they have been raised together for a long time and I have 10 hens.

Hens don't have true hanging saddle feathers, sorry. They do sometimes have an optical illusion making the feathers look pointed when in actuality the feather itself is nice and rounded.

If you can post a pic, and give us the age of the bird, we can confirm gender.

He is the one in the back.

This is him in the front. You can see how the other boys behind him are a lot more developed. I just couldn't pin if he was a boy for sure. He is now with 10 hens and 1 rooster. The rooster appears to leave him be for the most part. I have seen my rooster mount him before so that's why I was confused. He is best buddies with the chicken in the top picture. They sleep in the same box and everything.
