SADIE: Wing is off!!!! Pics

Quote:
I did the same thing with my vet. Called the office and said...I have an emergency, an eye injury from being pecked by a chicken...can he see me? she said...Oh yes come right now. I walked in with a chicken and the poor girl said "WHAT?" let me get the doc. He walked out and started laughing. He checked her right there at the counter and I was on my way. $10.00 bill for his time and some eye wash. LOL

We have to do what we have to do for our girls even if its a little shady. What the hay right!!!!!

This is what Sadies other wing looked like a couple of days after the attack while I was desperately trying to find a vet to see her.

This is how Sadie looks now. You can see her wing hanging down. We have the wing banded tightly cutting off circulation to the part that needs removed. She doesn't like it beause its always getting in her way. Hopefully it want take much longer for the wing to fall off. The process is just like docking a puppys tail.

Great news she had made the turn for the better! It shows how resilient these feathered friends of ours are and their thirst for life. It also says so much about you and the caring person you are. My best of wishes to her for a full recovery and long life to you both!

Oh Sara she looks so good. I really expected her to look worse for wear. Give her a treat and a hug. Keep us posted.

You betcha. My vet is totally cool and a very caring vet be it the dog, a chicken or my DD's pet rat. They all get the same consideration and treatment.

Good luck to Sadie- she looks like she will heal fine. I hope so.

I am a technician at a very busy veterinary hospital with five different veterinarians. Only one sees exotic pets. One night, I called up there with a very sick downed calf- and the vet on wouldnt tell me how to treat her. I threatened to bring that calf right into the waiting room and sit there amongst the dogs and cats, if he wouldnt give me some advice. He refused. I said- "See you in a few minutes then", and I hung up.

He called me back and walked me through the process of administering IV fluids to her, among other things.
