What are the risks of using nesting boxes or some other coop parts, that have previously been used by other chickens?

I'm looking on Craigslist to get parts/peices to build my coop and someone is offering me her nesting boxes. Is this a bad idea?Would they need to be sanitized?

well yes,but should not be a big deal I would use a bleach and water mix

So thats a yes, that they would need to be sanitized but not a major concern?

Sorry...just trying to be sure i'm understanding you correctly.

It depends, if they're a really good quality, even though there probably is some risk, but I would use them, but do a very liberal washing of a fairly strong bleach/water mix, wash heavily, and leave out to air out very well... possibly do it over again after that.

If they're cheezy though, I'd skip it.

This is just me though.

Thanks for the link. Good info!

I'm gonna check 'em out and see if they are worth the effort required to clean them. They're free afterall.

I used my miracle grow container that attaches to the garden hose. I fill it with bleach,& go to town spraying my entire coop.
