Hi all!

I have been on here for an hour looking to find my answer so I apologize if I missed it elsewhere.
can safeguard (fenbendazole) susp 10% goat wormer be given orally (via dropper) to an individual chicken? I have very few chickens and want to just get it in them as quickly and accurately as possible. Vs putting it in their waterers.

If so, what would the dosage be and how many times?

also, most of my chickens are molting and I had read something about it hurting the feather growth - can anyone attest to that?

Thank you!

There are some who have reported that fenbendazole or SafeGuard may cause feathers to come in oddly, while others report that they have never seen that. Dosage is 1/4 ml per pound of weight given orally once and again in 10 days to only get roundworms. Give it for 5 straight days to get the harder to get worms, such as capillary and gapeworms.

Valbazen is a very good wormer, and it doesn’t affect feather growth. Dosage is 1/2 ml for a 4-6 pound chicken given once and again in 10 days.

Is that through water supply or orally/direct. Looking for dosage as well for hens

Thank you!! I have been looking for the dosage to give just ONE chicken straight Fenben for days! I have 1 chicken with Gapeworms and I want to give her straight Fenbendazole without mixing in the water. So if she is about 4 lbs i would give her 1 ML per day for 5 days?

Welcome to BYC.
Are you sure it's gapeworms? Birds shake their necks and heads sometimes to adjust their crop. If your bird is eating and drinking, it's not gapeworms. Other birds would be most likely infected with gapeworms from picking up gapeworm eggs off the soil.
Birds with respiratory issues often mimic gapeworm infection. Your best bet is to collect a fresh fecal sample from your chicken, put it in a ziplock bag and take to a vet and have them look at it under a microscope for worm eggs. Shouldnt cost much.
