Sally's GF3 thread

I spent nearly 2 hours in the Social Security office today. I set up everything online, but to have tax withheld, I had to either mail or take the form to my local office. The actual meeting with the agent took about 5 minutes.
:he

Next time, I will know to take a book.
I have a couple favorite books on my phone.

They (the ubiquitous "they") say we'll have sunshine tomorrow and over the weekend. We've had about 6% of possible sunshine for the month of January, and that makes it the second gloomiest January on record.

"They" better be right. About the sunshine for tomorrow. I'll give them the check mark in the "correct" column about the dreariness of last month.
:barnie I am not a mushroom!!!:lau

I took all the paperwork to my tax preparer today. She said I'm in ahead of "the crowd," so I hope it doesn't take too long.

Another thing checked off the list. :yesss:
I'm waiting for the rest of the forms to arrive. This will be a different year, since dh is now on SSDI. Not sure how that is going to work.

Yeah, and now I need to call D&L Tax and tell them I got another form in the mail.🤦‍♀️ I thought I had them all.

Next year will be different (again) for us, as I'll start getting Social Security in a couple months.

While I was sitting in the SS office, I heard one woman telling the agent (I would have had to have been deaf not to; the phrase "clarion tones" comes to mind) about the runaround she was getting with her son's disability forms/payments. As far as that goes, I got off easy! I only waited 1:45, and the agent took care of my form straightaway.

I've been using H&R Block for a number of years. It's worth it to me, the software often finds exemptions I have never heard of.

Does anyone else get letters from some real estate company asking if they want to sell their land? Our property is actually 3 parcels, and one has never been "improved." We have gotten three or four letters in the last year asking if we like to sell it. Cash, buyer pays all the fees, yada yada.

The letter goes into the wood stove. I'm sorry, we spent $33K on that land 25+ years ago and you're offering $57K? :lau

The land is NOT for sale, not for $57K or $570K or $5.7M. You might get my attention with $5.7B.

Yea, millions ain't what it used to be. You have to use the b word to get anyone's attention anymore.
