Sally's GF3 thread

This is the tub we took out. The capped off pipe was the tub faucet, which dripped, and we never took baths anyway. Hubby capped it and put a cut off on the shower head.

The tub walls were juuuuuust a bit too wide, and bowed and bubbled. The caulking was a stop-gap (literally!) measure.

The corner shelves... the designer should be shot. Really? 3" between the bottom shelf and the edge of the tub. What did they think would happen? Yes, it collects water. Which turns to gross goo, no matter how you try to keep it clean. Not enough space to store anything, and not easy to reach when you're standing in the shower.

I will not miss this thing at all. I will probably give it a one finger salute when it goes into a dumpster.

My goodness. Yea, it was time for a change.

I can't back up any more to get more of it in. But that's ok. The caulk has to cure for 24 hours, so it still isn't useable. But it's the last sink bath night!
:thumbsup
We still need to:
put up the trim pieces
put in the corner shelves
put in the water fittings

We'll jury rig the shower curtain for now, and Monday I call Your Shower Door and ask them to come out and measure and take our money. And please bring the samples of the texture options for the glass so hubby can pick one out.

I feel like I can breathe again now. Man, this was stressful!
Wow Sally that is gorgeous!!!!

This is our redneck cobbled together shower curtain/rod until we get the shower doors. The rod screwed into the wall. No way were we going to put screws into the new shower walls!

Hubby is going to make something to cover the 2x4 and edge of the shower wall. That's one of the "details" that will probably drag into the winter.

Does that 2x4 support something?

The vertical is the outside edge of the wall at the head of the shower. It's not a supporting wall. It's also not square... to anything. That 2x4 used to be covered with the tongue and groove that's on the rest of the walls. To cover/dress the corners, the builder used regular door trim. It looked ok, but it was another example of crappy execution of the idea. I don't have a picture to illustrate it. Time will eventually erase it from my memory...

Make a pond out of it...
