Turn your AC off and that will stop once the glass warms back up
And the hubby will get grumpy. :gig

It's 5 pm, and the clouds have held. I am -- very pleasantly! -- surprised.

On our postprandial walk, the sky started to get a bit brighter; what we used to call "cloudy bright" for photographic lighting. Now it's too late in the day to warm up substantially.

Bullet. Dodged. Whew.

Well... now they're warning us about heavy rain and high winds. Hail is a possibility, with a low chance of a tornado. Most of it is forecast for south of I-96, which is about 15 miles south of me. The winds could be up to 85 mph... that is... concerning.

Right now it is still, with sun peaking out.

I'd bet you'd be pretty uncomfortable too, eh?

I've been watching those warnings all day, the radar keep changing.
Who knows what will happen, :fl for the best.

Yup. It's actually not bad in here now, with the AC off so we can watch the news. But, we're both just sitting.

Yup. We're on a river, but it's about 80-100 feet below us. Even the "100 year flood" of several years ago was not an issue.

The high winds are the concern for us here. There are a lot of big trees around the house and along most of the roads we travel, and where they run the power lines.

While waiting for it to get dark enough that the birds go inside because of a storm or dusk, I'm reading about extracting honey. Which we probably won't do this year; the girls (yes, all girls*) need what's there to eat over the winter.

We went out to see if they've done anything in the honey super we put on a few weeks ago. Eh, no, not really. I was wondering if they were "robbing" what was left in the partial comb to take down to the brood chamber. There were a lot of bees on those frames, but the frames looked pretty much the same as they did when we put them in.

We bought a used hive, so several of the frames had some/a lot of drawn comb on them already. I could smell the honey that remained. Bees will clean it out and move the honey to where it's needed, down in the brood box.

We are just about to have a major bloom of goldenrod. Bees love goldenrod, and now, so do I. I hope :fl :fl they use it to fill up that honey super!

*The male bees, the drones, do nothing other than pass on their genes. The workers, who are exclusively female, feed them, groom them, clean up after them. (Guys, want to be a drone bee in your next life?:gig)The drones only exist to mate with a queen bee. If they are successful, they die. (Guys, you don't want really want to be a drone bee.) If they aren't successful, they return to the hive. They get thrown out of the hive in the fall and die.

So far, all we have is a tree down in the side yard, and it brushed the car with its leaves. It missed the coop. :yesss:

We don't have power; estimated restoration is mid-afternoon today. Which surprises me, actually. The big thing, as far as DH is concerned, is the power box for the TV got fried. So no TV. He ordered a replacement, Saturday delivery. We'll see if that happens.

It's a toss up as to which is more likely: The power being on, or UPS/FedEx actually delivering something to our house on a Saturday.

It's still too dark to go see what else has happened. I'm pretty sure the bees are safe. The hive is in a bit of a valley that is protected from all but the north, and the valley is "short" in that direction, so the wind can't get up much velocity.

I bet we will have a lot of "volunteer" firewood. Except it will be for next year.
