My father built a tube radio from instructions he read in a magazine, Popular Mechanics perhaps. He was listening to it when the news of the attack on Pearl Harbor was announced.
Wow.

What was he doing at the time, did he ever say? Like, "What were you doing when you heard Kennedy was assassinated?"

BEE YOU TEE FULL hens!
Thank you! she said, as if she had something to do with what they look like. :lau

I have to say, I am very pleased with my Bielefelders! They are more vocal than my Australorps, but not noisy. They are more friendly than my Australorps, but I spent more time with them, so I can understand that.

I went from 5 hens and a rooster to 5 pullets, 5 hens and a rooster. I used to buy a 50 pound bag of feed about every 4 weeks; now it's about every 3. I'm expecting that as the pullets get closer to hen-hood and more start laying, it'll be more like every 2 weeks. That would be understandable, since I almost doubled my flock size.

I was told Biels eat a lot. So far, I'm not seeing the "a lot." Since they grow to be fairly big birds, I'm expecting them to eat more than they do now.
