Excellent crop of sweet potatoes! Wow, I was impressed.
My BFF sent me this via Text today. Thought I'd share this info since many here like sweet potatoes.
He also wrote in text,, that there is much more potassium in these than bananas. :idunno
Not sure how true this is,,,, but there are NO BAD SUGGESTIONS

The popular stuff disappears fast! New item week start on Wednesdays.
Cool that it's Wednesday. That's my chiroprctor day. :)

Good info on sweet potatoes! Think we'll have some in the next couple days.

What ways do you'll cook sweet 'taters? Bake in the oven, crock pot, Instant Pot? I like that they have lots of potassium. Even if it's more than a banana, I won't put them in my oatmeal. :D

Speaking of potassium, K? (couldn't help myself) I recently read a book on sodium, and how we get waaaaaaaaaay too much in our diets. We are pre-programmed to love the taste of salt, as it is VITAL to our survival. If it weren't for salt, the electrical impulses that keep every running wouldn't work. We are hard wired to love the taste, because it is there in plants, but in small doses. We need (according to what I remember in this book) about 400-600 mg/day. Most of us get several times that amount. Which is hard on our blood vessels, which can lead to all kinds of bad things like strokes and heart attacks. Potassium, however, is good at counter-acting they effect of too much sodium.

Now y'all want to know the title of the book, don't you? I need to look it up on my Kindle, as I don't recall!

I cooked sweet potatoes yesterday.

Our Dr. told DH that if he was going to eat any potatoes to choose sweet potatoes. They are more nutritious and the carbs/sugars are more slowly digested by the body. This will help prevent spikes in his sugar. (diabetes)

I am so proud of him. He recently went for a check up and A1c. His A1c came down almost 1.5 points out of the danger range and he had lost 27 lbs!!!! It's a great start and I think it has really motivated him.

Here's my report on Aldi's.

WOW! I love that place! I found clear shower curtains (with metal grommets!) in the "this week's specials" aisle. I got 4 at $6 each. I use those as windbreaks for the chickens' run. The ones I have are on their 4th winter, so they've held up really well. But the last time I got them at $6 was at a dollar store, and the holes weren't grometted.

Some of the food prices were close, but lower than Meijer, where I usually shop. Obviously, they didn't have the selection of Meijer -- which is huge -- but that's ok. I got hubby some cheese that I hope he likes as well as his usual brand, but I kind of doubt he will, just... cuz.

I can see myself stopping there every other week, on the way home from the chiropractor. I wish there were one closer to me. I gotta drag hubby there to check out their selection of various cheeses and meat.
:thumbsup

We are regular shoppers at Aldi. I live in Metro Chitown,,, so there are plenty of them near. Closest,,, 1 mile. then another at 2½ miles, Next at about 4. It is our go to store for food goods. Picked up a turkey on sale (Butterball) for 69cents/pound. Kind of hard to beat at any other store.
You can go online, and find store near you. You can then also view their weekly ads. Sales will/can vary by location.
Their website also offers recipes., Just need to navigate the home page. I did the shortcut here.

And yes, :yesss: I have used recipes from there. Last one I recall was for Focaccia bread.:drool:drool:drool

Yes, I saw those at the store I went to. I think I'll get one next trip in two weeks.

I'm really hoping Hubby likes some of the "usual" stuff I get, if I get it there. I picked up a packet of lunchmeat, and it just ... looked nicer than the store brand I get at Meijer. REALLY hoping he likes the sharp cheddar...! It's $1.99/8oz versus the $3.69/8 oz (on sale) for Cracker Barrel, which he thinks is the best. I'm not holding out much hope though. :hmm

There aren't any Aldi's in my town, and Meijer will probably keep them out of Lowell, MI, which is where I usually shop. The one I went to is conveniently on my way home from the chiropractor, though.

Thanks for the recipe link. I bookmarked it and will look through it more thoroughly. :thumbsup

Today, my little blue Button laid her egg IN THE NEST BOX! Not out in the run, not on the floor of the coop. This picture isn't from today, but this is she:

I hope I was encouraging enough in my pets and praise that she'll continue to lay where she should. Then I'll just have Robin to worry about. At least Robin lays in the same spot on the floor. Button just dropped them wherever.
