I let molting hens sleep in the nest box too.
When it's really cold mine tend to snuggle at one end of the roosting bars. There will be no poop under the other end.
We are under a winter weather advisory for Fri into Sat. They are saying could be snow, sleet or freezing rain or some of all. I haven't seen snow in a long while but I do not want the others.
