Sally's GF3 thread

My sweet little Pippy passed last night. She had been dealing with salpingitis for over 15 months. I'd read the average lifespan after laying a lash egg is 6 months.

Pip was way above average in so, so many ways. Her comb was "above" average at 5 weeks.

She liked to perch on my shoulder and tell me secrets.

Rest in peace, my sweet little Pippy. Fly high and free.

So sorry! She was beautiful!

Squeak, one of my two remaining Bielefelders, sat on my lap this afternoon. She doesn't like to be touched, so she sat there and I told her how pretty she is and how much I liked having her visit me.

Most of the chickens will sit around me or peck at the garden dirt on my pants, but they don't get up on my lap.

I cut garlic scapes today! I ate 4 raw. I got the hubby stamp of disapproval on my breath. :lau
At least you know he no Vampire. :idunno

Jumping to another subject,,,
You posted on garden thread that you purchased Pea moss,, but it was more like topsoil.
Since I don't post, and answer there any longer, let me give you my thoughts. Here on your thread.
I am currently using up my peat moss, making my container grown pots filled. I mix it with topsoil, I get a nice fluffy soil medium that my flowers do like. My mixture also holds water better than soil alone.
The thing that you ended up with,, I think is called Organic Peat. It is in bags, rather than in a pressed bale shaped plastic bag.
I have used the Organic Peat in the past. It is good stuff,,, BTW.
Here is what I am almost out of now.

Like you, I like how peat moss fluffs up the potting soil. It holds moisture well, once it's wet. I've found if it gets dried out, it takes some soaking to moisten it again. When it sits all summer, fall, and winter, it get dry. I've found I need a mask when I scoop it into pots, as it is dusty.

The stuff I bought was bagged, but not a compress bale, as you show. I think that's what I bought a year ago, so I'll be looking for it again.
