Salmon Faverolle roo...

This is a roo, no? I ordered all pullets and he clearly looks different, he didn't have any obvious differences until recently though. I think he's beautiful but can't find any pictures of other SF cockerels his age (6-7 weeks)

Interesting! Looks like Speckled Sussex or some other mille fleur to me. It's cute, whatever it is.

Yes, I believe that is a cockerel..... even when you order all pullets, sometimes they slip through.. it's not a perfect art

This is bantam Salmon Faverolle at 8 weeks old:

It is hard to tell from your pics, but it doesn't look like a Faverolle. Does it have it's extra toes? Favs have 5.

** Edited to correct that Franky is 9 weeks old in that pic. The bird behind is not a Fav.

Yep...he has 5 toes. The pullet beside him, along with several other arrived, all looking the same, fuzzy, yellow, feather legged and with 5 toes and a cute little chicken beard.

I didn't notice him changing until recently and his wings weren't the first thing that I noticed...it was his breast that sprouted black feathers first.

I'll try to post some new pictures in a few days, including ones that show off his extra toes!

Sorry those are pretty badly colored Faverolle roo.....I've seen better ones...by the way, are these hatchery bred?

If he still got the color, maybe for a Sussex colored Faverolle!

Yes...they are hatchery, and nothing to be sorry about...I didn't buy them to win a show or breed...they are pets and layers (well he isn't, but that's why I ordered sexed chicks from a hatchery, and I knew the sexing wouldn't be completely accurate) and just so I understand correctly, you mentioned "those"... all of the pictures feature the same bird(s) a roo and a pullet. It's the oddly colored bird that I was so confused about.

To make it even odder...his comb is no bigger or redder than the pullets.

I am used to dealing with show faverolles that I didn't even think about the coloring of a hatchery bird. He should make a good pet for your feathered family. Faverolles are the perfect pets to be spoiled.
